Introduction to Extra Dimensions
Extra dimensions provide a very useful tool in addressing a number of the fundamental problems faced by the Standard Model. The following provides a very basic introduction to this very broad subject area as given at the VIII School of the Gravitational and Mathematical Physics Division of the Mexican Physical Society in December 2009. Some prospects for extra dimensional searches at the 7 TeV ...
متن کاملPedagogical Introduction to Extra Dimensions
Most physicists agree that some form of New Physics (NP) must exist beyond the Standard Model(SM)–we simply don’t know what it is yet. Though there are many prejudices based on preconceived ideas about the form this NP may take, it will be up to experiments at future colliders, the LHC and ILC, to reveal its true nature. While we are all familiar with the list of these theoretical possibilities...
متن کاملExtra Dimensions
For explanation of terms used and discussion of significant model dependence of following limits, see the " Extra Dimensions Review. " Limits are expressed in conventions of of Giudice, Rattazzi, and Wells as explained in the Review. Footnotes describe originally quoted limit. n indicates the number of extra dimensions. Limits not encoded here are summarized in the " Extra Dimensions Review. " ...
متن کاملGetting to the top with extra dimensions
The prospect of large extra dimensions and an effective theory of gravity at around a TeV has interesting experimental consequences. In these models, the Kaluza-Klein modes interact with Standard Model particles and these interactions lead to testable predictions at present and planned colliders. We investigate the effect of virtual exchanges of the spin-2 Kaluza-Klein modes in the production c...
متن کاملTwo Universal Extra Dimensions
We review the main results of the study of the Standard model propagating in two universal extra dimensions. Gauge bosons give rise to heavy spin-1 and spin-0 particles. The latter constitute the lightest Kaluza-Klein (KK) particle in the level (1,0). The level (1,1) can be s-channel produced. The main signals at the Tevatron and the LHC will be several tt̄ resonances.
